Important Information for Volunteer Coaches

Background Check

Submit your Application for Background Screening (no fee).
REQUIRED for all volunteers and parents that wish to help with Amelia County Dixie Softball.  
NO ONE is allowed on the field or in the dug out with players without permission from the coach AND an approved Background Screening.  

Free NAYS Certification

You must be certified in each sport you are coaching. Coach certification is required for all coaches at no cost to you, and must be renewed annually. 

  1. First time coaching? Visit the NAYS website, create an account and log into the NAYS Training site to complete your training.
  2. Coached before? Visit the NAYS website to log into your NAYS account and renew your certification.
  3. After completing your online training (first time and returning coaches), provide a copy of your receipt which shows your payment made for the training, and a copy of your NAYS certification so we can reimburse you for your training. 

*$20 fee refundable, print certification and submit to P&R for reimbursement with name, address and phone number included.

2020 New Rules/Policies

2020 NEW RULES/POLICIES

  1. Require all infielders (including pitchers) to wear face guards in SweeTees (both styles of play), Darlings and Angels(both styles of play).
  2. Require all pitchers in Ponytails, Belles and Debs to wear a face guard.
  3. Require all DSI officials to take and receive a certificate of Heads Up concussion training provided by the CDC (Center for Disease Control), and strongly recommend that all umpires and coaches take and receive a certificate for Heads Up concussion training that is provided by the CDC.
  4. All State Tournament sites shall be decided by a vote of the leagues that franchised with Dixie Softball in their state the previous year and are present at the annual state meeting held in January, February or March of each year. Leagues do not have to receive a majority of the votes, just the most. If there is a tie vote, there will be a run off vote taken.
  5. For a league to be eligible to bid on an age division’s World Series, that league must have franchised that age division the previous year.
  6. Add to the existing rule the following: Managers and coaches removed from a game for unsportsmanlike conduct must leave the playing facility and cannot in any manner help coach their team from outside the playing field. Any manager/coach removed from a game will not be allowed to participate in their team’s next game. DSI does not condone or allow unsportsmanlike conduct from anyone attending a DSI function. Managers and coaches are reminded that they can be held responsible for the behavior of their team’s fans.
  7. The age cut-off date is now July 31 of the current year.
